Birth is a big physical event for a tiny body; even in a completely normal delivery, it involves real physical forces on a newborn’s spine and neck. That’s part of why many parents choose to have their baby’s posture and movement checked early on, whether or not anything seems obviously off.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Dr. Dana, Dr. Austin, and Dr. Jamie all have extensive training in infant chiropractic care, gently assessing spinal alignment, neck mobility, and posture from the very first weeks of life (including conditions like torticollis). Some babies who favor one side also have some tightness or asymmetry in their neck; we’ll check for that, explain what we find, and point you toward the right next step, whether that’s more visits with us or a referral to someone else.

Our adjustments use less pressure than you’d use to check if an avocado is ripe. Genuinely. Most parents are surprised by how calm the whole visit is…for both of you.

Is chiropractic care safe for newborns?

Yes. Our techniques for infants are extremely gentle and specifically adapted to a newborn’s size and stage. Dr. Dana, Dr. Austin, and Dr. Jamie all have specific training in infant chiropractic care.

What happens during my baby’s first visit?

We’ll start with a conversation about your baby and what brought you in, followed by a gentle assessment of their spine, posture, and neck movement. Depending on their age and comfort, we’ll also run 1 or 2 Insight CLA nervous system scans to get a clearer picture of what’s going on. We’ll walk you through everything we find before any adjustment happens.
What signs might mean my baby could benefit from a checkup?
Common ones parents notice: consistently turning their head one direction, a flat spot developing on one side of the head, stiffness or resistance when you turn their neck the other way, looking uneven through the shoulders or hips, or their body consistently curving to one side (like a ‘C’ or reverse ‘C’ shape) when lying down. Will the adjustment hurt my baby, or make them cry?

Our adjustments use less pressure than checking if an avocado is ripe…genuinely that gentle. Some babies fuss a little simply because it’s unfamiliar, not because it’s uncomfortable. We move at your baby’s pace, and you’re right there the whole time.

Does insurance cover infant chiropractic visits?

Many extended health plans include chiropractic coverage for dependents, including newborns. We offer direct billing with most major insurers. Just bring your policy info to your first visit and we’ll check for you.
