A Chiropractic Clinic Kids Actually Like Going To

Maybe your kid took a hard fall at the playground and hasn’t quite bounced back. Maybe you’ve noticed they favor one side when they walk or stand, or their shoulders don’t quite look even. Maybe they’re deep into a sport or activity that’s putting new demands on a growing body, or you’re just hoping to catch things early rather than wait for something to become a bigger problem. Whatever brought you here, you’re in the right place.

Dr. Dana, Dr. Austin, and Dr. Jamie all have extensive training in pediatric chiropractic care, gently assessing spinal alignment, posture, and joint mobility as your child’s body grows and changes — through growth spurts, sports seasons, and everything in between. Kids’ bodies handle a lot: backpacks, desks, screens, tumbles, and the occasional dramatic entrance off the top of the playground structure. We’re here to keep an eye on how it’s all holding up.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Every adjustment is matched to your child’s age, size, and comfort. Most kids are surprised by how fun and easy the whole visit is — and more than a few ask when they get to come back.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age can my child start receiving chiropractic care?

There’s no age that’s ‘too young’ or ‘too old’ to start — we see kids from their very first weeks (see our Babies page for infant-specific care) right through the teen years. Some families come in with a specific concern, like a fall, a new sport, or a change in posture they’ve noticed. Others come with nothing specific going on at all — just wanting to get ahead of any issues before they become bigger ones. Both are good reasons to book.

Is chiropractic care safe for children?

Our techniques are extremely gentle and specifically adapted for children’s growing bodies. Dr. Dana, Dr. Austin, and Dr. Jamie all have extensive training in pediatric chiropractic care.

What happens during my child’s first visit?

We’ll start with a conversation about your child and what brought you in, followed by a gentle assessment of their spine, posture, and movement. Depending on their age and comfort, we’ll also run 1-3 Insight CLA nervous system scans to get a clearer picture of what’s going on. We’ll walk you through everything we find before any adjustment happens, so you always know what to expect next.

Will my child get the same kind of adjustment as an adult?

No — technique is matched to age, size, and comfort, and a child may often get a combination of approaches rather than just one. Infants may receive very light, fingertip-level pressure. Toddlers may be adjusted using the Activator instrument, a small handheld tool that delivers a gentle, precise impulse. Preschoolers may be adjusted using a drop piece table, which uses gravity and a gentle drop rather than manual force — this age may get a combination of approaches depending on their size and comfort. By school age, kids can typically receive gentle manual adjustments, adapted specifically to their smaller frame.

How do I know if my child might benefit from a chiropractic checkup?

Some signs parents notice include uneven shoulders or hips, favoring one side of the body, a change in gait or a limp after a fall, stiffness or reduced range of motion, or general tension after a busy sports season. If any of this sounds familiar — or you’re just curious — a checkup is a great place to start.

Do you screen for scoliosis?

Yes. Scoliosis screening is part of a standard spinal assessment, and it’s especially relevant during growth spurts, when curves can develop or change quickly. If we notice something that warrants a closer look, we’ll refer you for X-rays or imaging to get a clearer picture, and work alongside your child’s medical team as needed.

Will my child’s adjustment hurt, or will they cry?

Adjustments are gentle and matched to your child’s age — techniques can range from light fingertip pressure for infants to instrument-assisted approaches for toddlers and preschoolers to gentle manual adjustments for school-age kids. Some kids are a little unsure the first time simply because it’s new, not because it’s uncomfortable. We move at your child’s pace and always explain what we’re doing as we go.

Do you only see kids with a specific concern, or also kids who seem totally fine?

Both! Many families treat pediatric chiropractic like a regular checkup — a chance to keep an eye on their child’s spine and posture as they grow, not just something for when a concern comes up.

Do you see kids with autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, or other developmental differences?

Yes. We welcome kids of all kinds and adapt our approach to what works for your child — more time, a quieter visit, extra breaks, whatever helps. Let us know about any specific needs when you book so we can plan ahead.

Does insurance cover pediatric chiropractic visits?

Many extended health plans include chiropractic coverage for dependents. We offer direct billing with most major insurers — bring your policy info to your first visit and we’ll check for you.
